Child Australia is calling for nominations for the 2027 Early Childhood Learning & Development (ECLD) Sector Awards. The Awards recognise the educators, leaders and services doing outstanding work for children and families across Western Australia.

Child Australia will announce the winners at a ceremony at Optus Stadium on Friday 5 March 2027, the evening before the ECLD Conference.

The ECLD Sector Awards shine a spotlight on the passion, dedication and innovation demonstrated across the sector, recognising those who go above and beyond to create positive outcomes for children, families and communities.

The 2027 Award Categories are:

Outstanding Early Childhood Educator
Family’s Choice – Outstanding Educator & Team
Excellence in ECEC Leadership
Excellence in Best Practice
Excellence in Supporting Child Development
Service Excellence in Partnerships with Families, Communities and Schools
Outstanding Commitment to Reconciliation and Cultural Responsiveness
Excellence in Play-based Pedagogy

“Every day, educators across WA turn up for children and families in ways most people never see. They notice the child who is finding things hard, they build trust with parents, and they keep learning to get better at what they do. These Awards are our chance to stop and say thank you, and to show the whole state the calibre of people working in this sector,” said Child Australia CEO Tina Holtom.

“If you work alongside someone like this, or your child is in their care, please nominate them. Recognition from a colleague or a family is so meaningful.”

WA Early Childhood Minister Sabine Winton said early childhood educators deserved to be recognised for the significant impact they have on the lives of children and families.

“As a mother of three daughters who all attended early childhood and care services, I know firsthand how incredible early childhood educators are. They support and nurture children to thrive and help set them up for success in their early years of development, and it is important that they are acknowledged for this valuable work”.

“I encourage people to nominate early childhood educators who are going above and beyond to help Western Australian children get the best possible start in life.”

An independent judging panel will select the winners. Panel members bring experience from early childhood education and care, tertiary education, independent training and local government.

Finalists will receive complimentary tickets to the Awards ceremony and the ECLD Conference. Winners will receive a $1,500 cash prize.

The ECLD Conference runs on Saturday 6 March 2027 at Optus Stadium, with three keynote presentations and 18 breakout workshops on current research and best practice in Early Childhood Education and Care.

Child Australia thanks its 2027 partners and sponsors including Goodstart Early Learning, Uplyft, REED WA, The Y WA, CTAS Education, Xplor Education, Australian Child Care Career Options and OWNA.
