About the resource
The NQS sets the benchmark for quality in education and care settings. While many educators and leaders recognise its importance, the language and detail within the standards can sometimes feel overwhelming or difficult to translate into everyday practice. To make the NQS more accessible, I have created a series of short video snippets designed to break it down into clear, manageable pieces.
Each video focuses on a specific part of the NQS and delivers information in a quick, easy to digest format, providing bite sized learning that can be accessed anytime, anywhere, without needing to commit to a long training session. By keeping the content short and targeted, these videos aim to support educators and leaders to build their knowledge gradually while still offering practical strategies they can put into action straight away.
The snippets explore not only the “what” of the NQS but also the “why.” Each video highlights the intent behind the standards and connects this to the real work happening in services every day. Educators are encouraged to reflect on their own practice and think about how small adjustments can strengthen their programs, interactions, and environments. Because the videos are short and focused, they are easy to revisit, discuss, and apply in context.
Importantly, these snippets are not about ticking off compliance. Instead, they invite educators to see the NQS as a framework for meaningful practice that truly supports children and families. The aim is to make the standards feel approachable, relevant, and achievable, something that can be woven into everyday routines and interactions, rather than seen as an added burden.
Through engaging with the series, educators and leaders will have the opportunity to:

- Gain practical ideas that can be applied immediately in their service.
- Reflect individually and as a team on current practice.
- Build a stronger, shared understanding of the NQS across their service.
By breaking the NQS into bite sized pieces, the series provides ongoing opportunities for learning and growth.
The aim is to empower educators and leaders to feel confident, capable and inspired to continue improving quality, step by step, while keeping children’s best interests at the centre of everything they do.
