Supporting Children in ECEC WA Grant Program

Preschool in Western Australia, most commonly known as kindergarten, provides an invaluable foundation to children in the year prior to full-time school.

It is the child’s first step in their formal educational journey, and the PRA is dedicated to making this journey equitable and empowering from the beginning.

About the Preschool Reform Agreement

The Preschool Reform Agreement (PRA) is a significant national initiative in Australia. It’s a collaborative effort between the Australian Government and all states and territories aimed at strengthening preschool education and better supporting children as they prepare for their first year of school. The PRA introduces key reforms to ensure that funding flows to Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) registered Providers with a Service Approval offering preschool programs. The ultimate goal is to improve the accessibility, quality, and outcomes of preschool education for all children.

The PRA embodies a profound commitment to ensuring that every child, irrespective of their background, can access high-quality preschool education. One of the key reforms under the PRA is the flow of funding to all settings where preschool programs are delivered, including government schools, non-government schools, and the Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) sector.

Please note: The Department of Education distributes the PRA funding to the school sector and this grants program has been established to distribute funding to the ECEC sector only.
