Abstract Submissions are now Open
The 2027 Early Childhood Learning & Development Conference will be held on Saturday 6 March 2027 at Optus Stadium, Perth WA.
With topics focusing on the theme, “Belong, Inspire and Transform”, the Conference provides an opportunity for educators, academics, policy makers and communities to work collaboratively to improve children’s learning and development.
Abstract Key Dates
Presentation Format
We are looking for presentations that are innovative and at the forefront of current practice and research related to the education and care sector from birth to 12 years.
Interactive sessions are highly encouraged. Where possible, include workshops, group discussions, collaborative activities or standing/movement-based exercises.
- Abstracts are to be submitted as a 45-minute interactive workshop/presentation.
- All presentations should allow time for 5 minutes of questions either during or at the end.
- Abstracts are to be submitted with a title, in MS Word format and in English to a maximum of 500 words.
- Ensure you indicate the presenting author for the Abstract and include a brief biography of no more than 100 words.
- Choose the most relevant abstract theme.
Belong • Inspire • Transform
Exploring practices that foster children’s sense of belonging, cultural identity, agency, equity, inclusion and meaningful partnerships with families and communities.
Example Abstract Topics:
- Building culturally responsive and inclusive learning environments
- Supporting children’s identity, voice and sense of belonging
- Partnering with families and communities to strengthen inclusion
Innovative approaches to play-based learning, curriculum design, intentional teaching, inquiry and pedagogical practices that support children’s learning and development.
Example Abstract Topics:
- Reimagining play-based learning for today’s children
- Using inquiry, creativity and innovation to enhance pedagogy
- Designing engaging learning environments that inspire exploration
Building thriving teams, developing leadership capability, supporting educator wellbeing, workforce sustainability, mentoring and creating positive workplace cultures.
Example Abstract Topics:
- Creating positive workplace cultures that attract and retain educators
- Coaching, mentoring and developing future leaders
- Leading change through collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement
Supporting children’s and educators’ wellbeing through trauma-informed practice, child safety, behaviour guidance, regulation, mental health and responsive environments.
Example Abstract Topics:
- Supporting emotional regulation through relationships and co-regulation
- Strengthening safeguarding through effective supervision and risk management
- Embedding child-safe cultures through everyday practice
Emerging trends, research, technology, sustainability, advocacy and transformative practices shaping the future of Early Childhood Education and Care.
Example Abstract Topics:
- Harnessing emerging technologies and AI to enhance teaching, learning and service operations
- Turning research into practice: Evidence-informed approaches that improve outcomes for children
- Driving innovation through sustainable and future-focused practices
Guidelines
- Each Abstract will be assessed according to the following criteria:
- relevance to the Conference
- relevance to the professional context of delegates
- potential to contribute to the body of knowledge
- Successful Abstracts must be presented by the author/s or a nominated co-author.
- The presenting author will receive 1 x complimentary registration to the Conference if chosen to present.
- Audience attendance may reach 100 delegates. Audience numbers are not guaranteed – presentations will run simultaneously with other sessions.
- Submission of Abstracts implies the author’s agreement to publish the Abstract in all Conference publications inc. website.
- Acceptance of Abstracts will be done by email.
- Acceptance does not imply any payment from the Organising Committee. Authors must arrange and pay for their own accommodation, travel etc… to attend the Conference.
- Acceptance or otherwise is at the discretion of the Organising Committee whose decision is final.
- Submission deadline may be extended at the discretion of the Organising Committee.
